Porto at sunset from the hillside of Gaia. Note that all of the large red roofs on the near bank in Gaia house Port wine (and that ALL Port wine is matured and barreled in this hillside).

The banks of the Douro river are always a bustling scene. This was the weekend before the start of Carnival so things were really starting to heat up. The other big night is June 23rd which is the festival of the patron saint of Porto.

A view of the Dom Luis Bridge, with the metro train running on the top and cars and buses on the bottom. Note also the cable car running from the riverbank to the top of the bridge in Gaia. And to further the transportation overload, note the funicular rail car behind the bridge.

A series of photos of the interior of the old Porto train station. The Portuguese are famous for their painted tiles.

standing on top of the Dom Luis Bridge. The vertigo was just a little too much to handle.

James and Gwen visited Paris for Première Vision 2012. It was a quick trip but they still managed to get some great shots.

Just arrived!

Views from the hotel.

Paris Sunday street fair. Christofle anyone?

The Galeries Lafayette department store near the Opera is probably the grandest shopping experience we’ve ever seen. They always stop by.

James did not miss an opportunity to play a little Gran Turismo while waiting for their flight.
On the way to PV, James first stopped off in Porto, Portugal to visit our various factories and make some new connections. And snap some photos in the downtime…

A good in-flight map tells the story best. Overnight direct flight from Newark to Porto, the only non-stop option currently.

LA I'm Yours came to the Fred Segal opening party. Find out what they thought of the evening here!
My wife and I just got back from one of my favorite trips in quite some time. Spain offered us the perfect combination of food & drink, art, architecture, sun and shopping.
(Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's masterpiece in Barcelona)
Our first stop in Spain was in Sevilla, the birthplace of Flamenco. The old city is beautiful, and definitely worth a two day stop over. Be sure to catch a Flamenco show, eat some great tapas, and do not miss the beautiful Cathedral in the center. It is a sight to be seen.

Next stop: Barcelona.
The food markets are fantastic. I love that you can eat fresh food right in the market.

The city wouldn't be the same without the brilliant architecture of Gaudi. This rooftop is a must see.

You can even enter one of the old apartments, which is part of the museum tour. Sorry, I couldn't help myself with this wikki-wikki pose.

Here are some more more pics of Sagrada Familia. The photos will never do it justice. You just need to see it in person to fully appreciate it's scale of beauty.

...and of course we headed over to Park Guell next. Another place you need to see in person to fully appreciate.

Barcelona has both the Picasso museum, and Miro foundation. I'm a big fan of Miro, so I feel like this museum visit is essential.

When it was time to do some shopping, I stumbled upon this great men's shop in Barcelona called "Bel". This shop has been in business since 1842! I purchased these awesome sunglasses from a very helpful sales person named Luis. Here I am trying on their signature desconstructed jacket, while Luis gave me a tour of the custom room.

While you are in Barcelona, make sure you get lost in the city's streets, and allow yourself to stumble upon some of the amazing food, and enjoy the city charm.

After Barcelona, we headed over to the Balearic Islands for some much needed relaxation before heading back to NYC. These have not been touched up in photoshop, the blue that you see is real!

Spotted, SSV's Richard testing the audio of Bang & Olufsen BeoSound for Aston Martin. Looking fresh on Greene Street!

After battling the blizzards this winter in NYC, I thought it might be time to put my travel shirt to use and jet set to beautiful Roatan, Honduras.

The beauty of Roatan is that you won't find any big resorts or a very commercial atmosphere on the island. Aside from the Coca-Cola sign, it still has a very regional flavor.

The locals like to fry up their food. From the garlic butter fish and shrimp, to spicy chicken and whole fried snapper, I didn't complain one bit. The local Salva Vida beer was $2 on the beach, but the locals informed me I was getting ripped off because they cost $1.25 in town. Luckily, my alcohol budget covered it.

Here I am fattening up the fish for my next meal. The coral reef is right off the beach, and there is a lot to see. While snorkeling I spotted a stingray, an approximately 6 foot long eel, and a barracuda. Sorry for not snapping any pics, but I had self preservation on my mind.

If you practice enough, you catch the fish with your teeth when you dive in.

The hammock came in handy, I polished off two books on that thing. I reccomend reading "Just Kids" by Patti Smith, which I followed up with "Hell's Angels" by Hunter Thompson to switch up the vibe.

A nice surprise during a shopping break in town. I found a local woman weaving fabric on a small loom in her shop. She looks like she puts a lot of hard work into the items she sells. My wife bought one of the bags, and I brought home some awesome bracelets for my friends. Stumbling upon someone weaving their own fabric is pretty cool.

Speaking of fabric... I'm obviously loving this cotton/linen blend SSV shirt. The fabric feels great, keeps me comfortable in the hottest tropical weather, and I love the bold stripes. I am really loving life here. I obviously opted for the wine on this particularly cozy evening. My signature lazy wine eyes are in full effect. The perfect vacation moment.
Thankfully I am well rested (long deserved), and back in the NYC groove. Come see me at the shop so I can help you pick out some resort wear...
This past New Year's Eve I had the amazing opportunity to be flown out to ice cold Moscow, and DJ at two fantastic parties. When I wasn't spinning records for the party crowd, my fantastic hosts took me around the city to see the beautiful sites. I hope you enjoy some of the photos I snapped
.
I just landed in snowy Moscow here, and it was 10 degrees below 0. We walked out directly on to the snow coevered tarmac, and I was really happy I had the right warm clothing on the plane with me.

St. Basil's Cathedral literally took my breath away.
This stunning museum in the heart of Red Square looks unreal.
Lenin's tomb in Red Square. Please don't be that next person that asks me why "Lennon" is buried in Russia!
Yes, I am actually spinning vinyl records. This first party was at Club Cult, a former speak easy in the basement of a historic building, with a young and up for it crowd that boogied deep into the A.M. I think my last record was played at 7am, so yes, the rumors are true, our Russian friends know how to party! Be warned, the shot glasses there are at least double the size of ours.

The Luch Bar is the location of the second party I played tunes at. This Luch Bar photo was taken from the second floor balcony, and is just a small example of the opulance Moscow is famous for. I believe this bar is 5 stories high, with a restaurant, plenty of art work on display, screening rooms, library, the longest bar in the country, fireplaces, high ceilings etc. Reported to tbe the hippest hang out in Moscow, I spun music for a mature crowd of Moscow's beautiful movers and shakers.
Here I am arriving at Luch Bar, ready to get on the decks. I'm wearing one of my favorite SSV winter shirts here. We've sold out of this one, but I've got great reccomendations if you still want awesome flannels. Call me at the shop!
Shopping anybody? The world famous Gum is the most massive shopping center I've ever seen for luxury brands.
Speaking of shopping, everywhere I go I make sure to hit up a record store, and dig up some local rare grooves. My hosts were gracious enough to take me to an amazing record shop that had a giant selection of vintage Russian music. The interesting thing about the cross section of Russia's musical and political history is that it produced the amazing record label, "Melodiya" AKA "All-Union Gramaphone Record Firm of the USSR Ministry of Culture Melodiya", which was state run of course. They mostly released classical music, but these classically trained musician also tried their hand at interpereting the contemporary sounds of the West during the 70s, which resulted in fantastic funk/jazz fusion records that embody a level of sophistication and originality during their period of cross-genre exploration that is unique to the label.
BYW a sound clip of the actual record in my hand is attached in the youtube clip!
I hope you enjoyed the pics and music I brought back from Moscow, and some of the cold weather clothing suggestions I wore on my trip at the bottom of the page.
